About the Planting
In this planting, ReLeaf Michigan, DTE Energy Foundation, Washington Township, and volunteers planted 20 trees at the Green Space Conservatory on Saturday, May 30th. The trees were planted to contribute to the growing community green space by increasing species diversity and enhancing the present tree screen.
About the DTE Energy Foundation
The DTE Energy Foundation (“Foundation”) is the philanthropic arm of DTE Energy (“DTE”) and supports initiatives focused on art and culture, community transformation, economic progress, education and employment, environment, and human needs. For more than 20 years, the Foundation has invested in communities where DTE has a business presence. The DTE Foundation awarded ReLeaf Michigan funding for 2026 to plant a minimum of twenty trees in 13 communities throughout Michigan.
About ReLeaf Michigan
ReLeaf Michigan is Michigan’s only statewide tree planting non-profit organization, working with communities and organizations throughout Michigan to protect and restore our urban tree canopies. Founded by some of the most respected arborists in the state, ReLeaf Michigan plants the Right Tree in the Right Place at the Right Time to ensure each tree thrives for generations to come.
As of spring 2026, when this planting occurred, ReLeaf Michigan had planted over 35,000 trees in 815+ communities throughout Michigan and, through community workshops, increased awareness of the important benefits trees provide. Our communities are stronger when they are greener. People are healthier, the air is cleaner, infrastructure is more efficient, and the economy is stronger with trees.
