About the Planting
In this planting ReLeaf Michigan, the DTE Energy Foundation, the city of Hazel Park, and volunteers planted 20 trees at Tuski Park on Saturday, May 3rd. The trees were planted to replace trees that were lost to disease. The community wanted to plant smaller ornamental trees and focus on learning techniques to streamline landscape maintenance tasks. ReLeaf Michigan is Michigan's only statewide tree planting non-profit organization, working with communities and organizations throughout Michigan to protect and restore our urban tree canopies. As of spring 2025 when this planting occurred, ReLeaf Michigan had planted over 33,500 trees in 700+ communities throughout Michigan. and, through community workshops, increased awareness of the important benefits trees provide. Our communities are stronger when they are greener. People are healthier, the air is cleaner, infrastructure is more efficient, and the economy is stronger with trees. |
